Hannah's Lemonade Stand!

Labor Day (of all days), Hannah decided to go to work! (smile) Hannah has asked us all summer to have a lemonade stand..and previous summers. She told us she "didn't want a pretend stand, but a real one!" She wanted to "make money!" So, who are we to stop a budding capitalist? In the short time Hannah had her lemonade stand - total of 1 hour, Hannah came to know the challenges and frustrations associated with owning your own business: 1) You have to have some money to make money (Hannah took a small loan out from Mommy and Daddy for overhead costs - lemonade, cups, etc.) 2) You have to advertise so people know what you are selling - location is key! (made many, many signs!) 3) Know your product - Hannah decided to try lemonade for the 1st time so she could tell her customers if it was any good - she decided it was so good she had 3 glasses! 4)Don't hire family to help - it is difficult to fire them when they play at work and consume your product without paying (see Zander pics) 5)You will have to put in a lot of work without any promise of profit (Hannah had three customers - Daddy, Mommy, and Charlotte - next door neighbor). 6) It is very frustrating to know you have a good product but you are not able to convince others that they need to buy from you. 7) "If at first you don't succeed - try again!" Hannah was very tearful last night because she wanted to have her lemonade stand when it was cooler...Hannah reflected, "People are out walking now that it is cooler - I have to be out there so they will see my lemonade stand and buy my lemonade!"

Advertising!

"The hired help!"

"Customer Charlotte!"
